The Shetland Creek wildfire measuring over 200 square kilometres burned more than 20 structures in the Venables Valley, including at least six homes. The fire remains out of control, but has been controlled in our valley. Everyone including cows were evacuated to local towns and campgrounds.
The BC Wildfire Service reports that 80 per cent of the current fires were started by a series of lightning storms that swept across the province.
