Community Alliance

Who are we?

community alliance

Those interested in deep and meaningful change in how we relate to each other and the land that sustains us all. We wish to engage with the local First Nations, Nlaka'pamux 15 Nations that have rights and title to the land we currently reside in.

  • We are learning about the engagement process
  • We are learning about Truth and Reconciliation.
  • We are learning about respect to all relationships.
  • We and the forests need great healing and a return to their original and ancient ways of co-existing.

Development of Cow Protection and Farming

surabhi

We have 1700 acres of land and over 40 years have developed a goshala, an ox plowing team and cultivated orchards and many gardens. We will establish cow protection and farm programs leading to self sufficiency.

We have a clear mission to manifest the vision of Varnasrama villages, as proposed by Srila Prabhupada and our Acharyas.  Varnasrama provides self sufficiency and fulfills the material and spiritual needs of our community and the next generation.

"For plain living we must have sufficient land for raising crops and pasturing grounds for the cows. If there is sufficient grains and production of milk, then the whole economic problem is solved." - Srila Prabhupada

Community Alliance "Heart-Quarters"

trade centerThe new Village Exchange structure welcomes all to use and improve the facilities. A rocket mass heater is available for warming hands and tea. Village Exchange is built with locally milled lumber and cob.

Village Exchange serves as a Trade Center, Kids Klub, community shelter and more.  Weekly circles, forums and check-ins, seasonal farmer markets, trade faires and social gatherings are hosted at the Village Exchange.

All beings living in our community are part of the alliance. There are no fees or dues, your only qualification is that you live in our valley.  Located beside the school greenhouse, across from the goshala

Our community desperately needs new leadership plus better and more regular communication.  Our future depends on it.  We need a facility for the community members to access community information in real time.  We need a newsletter featuring events and current news.  We need more transparency and communication from our leaders. We need to improve cooperation and trade.

Important issues to be addressed:
    •    Our farm status is in jeopardy due to shrinking farm output
    •    Our community has little economy, no guest facilities and no plans for improvement
    •    Plans needed to care for and support members as they grow old.
    •    Establishing cow protection and varnasrama as instructed by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

Srila Prabhupada has told us that we “Must work in a mood of love and trust”. “ Your love for me will be tested by how much you cooperate with each other to spread this Krishna Consciousness movement."

Srila Prabhupada wanted us to work in an amicable spirit to establish in our farm projects a harmonious society based on cow protection and self sufficient agriculture.
